Well, my translation machine said it meant stealing, pilfering, etc. But then another says 'shinobi' means 'female ninja' or 'covert agent'.

In the Western world the term 'ninja' (忍者) is popularized, while in Japan 'shinobi' (忍び) is more often used.

The term for a female ninja or female shinobi is kunoichi (くノ一).
