Professor Bergman was the real mastermind of Moon Base Alpha. Without him, the colony would have perished. Often the voice of reason, logic, wisdom and compassion on the show. The second season still would have sucked with Bergman, but a little bit less.
So ironic that with Fred Freiberger, the show lost its magic, but without him there wouldn't have been a second season - he convinced Lew Grade to green light season two with the concept of Maya.

I was outraged to discover they'd removed Barry Morse from the show when I sat down to watch the premiere of "The Metamorph".
