So they did a "Get Carter" and got Gently in the end !! What a disappointing end to a very good series. There wasn't even a valid reason for it beyond revenge because George had already spilled the beans. One puzzlement to me was the sudden disappearance of the MS diagnosis that George had. No mention was ever made of it again. I will miss this series - apart from some dreadful fake dialogue - it was really very good. I hope Martin Shaw turns up in something else.
