Discuss Level 9

What went wrong? Well, this was a show by geeks for geeks. I have a computer degree and I still couldn't follow the tech talk. When the leader interviewed a new team member in ep. 2 and asked his background, I couldn't understand a word he was saying. So much for introducing an interesting new character.

There was one standout episode (called, for some reason "Digital Babylon") and it stood out because it was character based. Sosh, the lovable girl nerd, decides to solve a mystery on her own and ends up in over her head. Her boss is sympathetic and tries to keep her out of trouble without humiliating her. Sosh wins out in a tense scene but understandably decides to stick to electronics from then on. Unfortunately, so did the show.

I agree with your analysis but I would add in the first episode where the head of the group did not inform the police detective that she had one of her people on the inside and when asked why she (like a jerk) that it was a need to know, he was too nice to her. He should have cursed her out and then gone to their boss and said that he can't work with her. She would have been gone.

Yes, new shows have to be careful not to alienate viewers at the start. I remember one police drama that focused on undercover agents ( who were symbolically compared to actors). One police spy in the second episode befriended a not-so-bright Southern girl and sneered at her behind her back as "white trash". The show was cancelled two weeks later. You don't win viewers by depicting your "heros" as bigots and liars.
