Discuti Adventures of Superman

Carmelita the burro. She can read minds. She knows that Clark Kent is really Superman.

That was a silly but fun episode.

I can definitely feel the series winding down now. It has, overall, been an enjoyable ride.

Yes, Carmelita knew. The little dog in the episode "The dog who knew Superman" also knew. But they never told. Good for them! 🙂

The early b&w episodes have their fans, as do the later, color episodes. I can see pros and cons to each. The technicolor in the color episodes was well done, but some of those episodes got sort of corny/cartoonish. Overall, though, it's still one of my favorite TV series. I remember making sure to get home from school to watch it in the 1950s. (I was born in 1950).

I am not as old as you, but I watched this show in the 70s when I came home from school. We weren't a rich family, so they were all black and white to me.

I got done rewatching pretty much the entire show on Heroes and Icons and am almost done with Batman (also on Heroes and Icons).

Initially, I preferred Batman but I started to like Superman more. It comes across as more genuine and has some warmth to it. Batman, while amusing and entertaining, has a bit of a cruel streak to it. It is making fun of the superhero genre and not always in a light hearted manner. Because it admits the absurdity of its premise, it is relegated entirely to comedy. Superman is structured in such a way that either comedy or drama is possible. We get to spend more time with Clark Kent than we do with Superman, so we get to explore his softer side. Bruce Wayne spends the majority of his time making up BS excuses to Aunt Harriet as to why he can't have tea with her or what ever. Then he becomes Batman for the rest of the show.

It was nice to rewatch both as an adult.

I never got into Batman in the sixties. I thought it was too goofy, and the writing was mediocre. I have been recording the H&I AoS episodes from my antenna to an external 5TB hard drive for streaming to my TV. I now have all but a few episodes of the series in my library. (I also have recorded them to DVD in the past, but it's a pain trying to locate episodes on DVDs.) This allows me to do some fact checking before posting or answering questions in the AoS forum.

Yeah, I thought Batman was too cartoonish, like some of the later, color episodes of AoS. I am also a baby boomer and have recorded the entire AoS series. It's nice to be able to watch one or more of my favorite episodes whenever I'm feeling nostalgic. And, as you say, it's also helpful to be able to re-watch at least part of an episode before contributing info to this discussion forum.
