Ele conta a história de Rabugento, um cachorro detetive que irrita os bandidos com suas aparições surpresa e ironia extrema. Famoso por sua risada e por resmungar o tempo todo, ele tem como carro uma lata-velha que anda com muita dificuldade. Este personagem não deve ser confundido com Muttley, apesar dos traços parecidos, que apareceu em séries animadas de a Corrida Maluca, no papel de parceiro do famoso Dick Vigarista, e em outra produção da Hanna-Barbera chamada Máquinas Voadoras, onde os integrantes voavam insistentemente atrás de um pombo-correio. Rabugento foi inspirando em Columbo, interpretado por Peter Falk, e Muttley no personagem Max do filme The Great Race, também intepretado por Falk. Rabugento acabou reaparecendo no desenho Ho-ho-límpicos de 1977.
