Discuss มหันตภัยอำพราง

Got to the end of the show, and appreciated an attempt at doing something a bit different in the MCU. However, I have some questions that I may have missed explanations for.

Is Nick Fury Racist?

OK, he loved a Skrull enough to marry her but it seems as if she had to put on her human face throughout their relationship.

WTH was Fury doing for 5 years?

This may be answered in "Marvels" but as it stands it feels like he was in a sulk when he could have been spending time with his wife and/or finding the Skrulls a new home.

Why can't he find the Skrulls a new home?

They seem pretty hardy (living in an irradiated area) so there's really nowhere on Earth they could be given? If not, Captain Marvel really couldn't find somewhere in the universe and there are no uninhabited places in the multiverse for them?

Do the Skrulls have self-loathing problems?

The rebels repeatedly state that they want a home where they can show their true faces but most in Skrulltown, including the very vocal leaders, presented as human. OK, this was probably a budgetary/recognition thing but some sort of way to explain this away was needed.

Has Cobie Smulders' MCU contract run out?

:(

Why didn't Mrs Nick Fury listen to Gloria Gaynor?

And so you're back, from outer space

I just walked in to find you here

With that sad look upon your face

I should have changed that stupid lock

I should have made you leave your key

If I'd a known for just one second

You'd be back to bother me

Rumours are that not only the intro, but also the script was Disney's first AI-generated project. So, you could ask an AI.

I think this was as much her as it was him - we all put a different face on for our loved ones - its just more literal here. I saw it as her version of him putting on the ring when he got home.

WTH was Fury doing for 5 years?

It's only been two - the blip/snap was from 2018 - 2023, and this series is set in 2025. But I think you are right - we'll find out what the station is for in the Marvels.

Why can't he find the Skrulls a new home?

We don't know what percentage of worlds are habitable - it may be so few that none are unclaimed, and safe from the Kree. Then politics happens. It is heavily implied that before turning to peaceful ways they were extremely warlike - memories are long and it may be other worlds were unwilling to help. I think the Asgardian question is more interesting - seemed weird to me that in all the discussions of alien species on earth cohabiting with humans they weren't mentioned at all.

Do the Skrulls have self-loathing problems?

I think this is more about the whole "method acting" aspect of spying. The longer you wear the skin the easier it is to wear the skin convincingly.

Maybe. There are a lot of universes out there...

Having just seen "The Marvels" it does seem that there are Skrull elsewhere (OK, in the movie things weren't working out so well for them) so sloppy writing seems to be in play here.
