Personal opinion here, of course. I found the first episode quite underwhelming, weak writing and not so convincing acting. It's as if it's made some 10-15 years ago. Odd that Netflix financed this as a TV series, when it could have probably be done in two 30 minute shorts.

My objection to 'datedness' was about the quality, less the aesthetics.
