Whatever your thoughts on the quality of the show (I quite enjoyed it, but it was a bit "teeny" for me) I think this trend (HBO have also done something similar) isn't going to do the studios any favours in the future. Back in the day, you could watch a show and record it for posterity. If it was popular enough (there seemed to be a low threshold) you could get it on tape/disk later and replace your recordings.

Along came streaming. It's not an option for most to record and home releases (even digital releases) are few and far between. However, if you kept subscribing you could watch your favourite show whenever you wanted. With this move, that option is by no means a given. Surely it's going to cause fans to look into "other" ways to keep their show available? Once they find out how to do that, then subscribing will start to seem a bit of a luxury. What is saving money in the short term could have a negative impact on revenue in the long term.
