I have only watched the first episode - I am a female Brit who worked in many offices in the sixties when I was very young and I NEVER saw office life depicted as it is here. The amount of smoking was ludicrous - most people would maybe go to the toilet for a quick puff or wait until their coffee breaks and go outside or to the works canteen. I saw the odd pipe puffed by my boss but the workers simply didn't smoke as they worked. Also - for a new girl to make a pass at her boss on her first day? It wouldn't happen in a million years. And bringing gifts for telephone operators? In what universe does this happen? The scene in the pub - if any man had made that kind of advance to a normal woman she would have slapped his face and the other men present would have defended her. Most women were not predatory sex seekers in those days as they are today. I didn't enjoy it - I found the characters implausible and repulsive and I shan't be watching it any more.
