Robert Wagner plays Alexander Mundy, the title character in this late 1960's tv spy show with a twist, It Takes A Thief. The premise is as follows: Noah Bain of the American Espionage Agency the SIA arranges for imprisoned master thief Alexander Mundy to be released into the agency's custody.

The terms of his parole are as follows: in return for his freedom, Alex has to agree to steel things for the government. He's set up with a cover as a wealthy playboy, but is under close surveillance by the SIA.
