I just started this show not from the beginning since it got taken down from Netflix. I just watch episodes as they come on FXX late at night.
I don't think I missed very much? Or did I miss a whole lot? I gather that Archer works for his mom's spy agency and they solve crimes or help people in need of private eyes or spies to do secret missions. Is that even legal? LOL Its kind of like creating your own central intelligence agency or something not regulated by any government body but just some old lady who wants to make money charging people for use of her spies?
Why is the spy agency called ISIS? Isn't that a pretty poor choice of a name given the recent climate with the t-ist group of the same name? I like how they draw the chicks to have curvaceous sexy bodies makes the characters more vivid and life like.
Are we supposed to forget that this is a cartoon after all or is that all part of the experience and humor?

Archer was out for years before we had to worry about extremists using the ISIS name. Yes, I'm fairly sure running your own spy agency is frowned upon by the government, so just enjoy it and try and stay out of the... Lana.... Lana... LAAAANNNAAAA... "Danger Zone".

Yeah I saw this one guy using Archer's photo in a different forum and it was pretty compelling since he looked like a James Bond cartoon guy with hot chicks around him. Like I said I only caught a few episodes already in the middle or end on FX whenever they even played them.
I read some fans complain that the most recent season is bad because Archer like ends up on a island or something? I don't know? The few episodes I saw I really liked. They were funny and they draw the chicks really hot lol, probably hotter than any real life current actresses that could play them.
Should I try to start from the beginning tho? Did I miss a whole lot of significant origin stuff? Or not really? I wish Netflix or Amazon Prime had the show so I can watch it from the start.

Have fun! xD Im glad Ive helped this show reach at least one other person lol.
oh and personally I enjoyed all seasons of this show. but then again I feel like the experience of binge watching a show (which is what I did) is very different to the experience of watching a show year-after-year as it airs, so its possible the only difference between me, who thinks all the seasons are great, and those people who dont like the new seasons, is because I binged and they stayed up-to-date.

Recently started watching Archer for the first time a few weeks ago. Although I don't really laugh all that much, I did enjoy the show and I like the characters, the show really grows on you after a while.
But I'm currently on Season 9 and it is starting to get bad. Season 8 was okay but it was "all a dream" and now season 9 is also "all a dream" where all the men are now all suddenly wimps who get beat up/outsmarted by all the women. Pam was probably my favorite character Seasons 1-7 and in 8 they turned her into a guy and in 9 they've turned her into a 7 foot body builder.
The earlier seasons had many offensive jokes that would not fly today which was kind of refreshing, now after looking it up I see season 7 debuted in 2016 (prior to the election so likely written in 2015) while season 8+ were of course made after the election. It seems like the quality of the show started dipping right around the time wokeness started taking over the entertainment industry. I plan to finish up season 9 but I have a bad feeling I'm not going to make it to the current season.

The next season (10th) is set in space and it's my least favorite. Not sure if it was by design or the creators saw the writing on the wall, but they pretty quickly abandon the middle seasons with a tried-but-true TV trope starting in season 11. The seasons that follow are better, although they still don't match the early seasons' peaks. I will say I was sad watching the episode that dealt with the real life death of one of the main actors, but they did handle it nicely. I just finished the series and also felt that the last episode certainly didn't feel like a series finale but more like their "all is lost" standard season-ender. But surely they knew going in that this, the 14th season, would be the last... ultimately anticlimactic. They should have taken a page from "Bojack Horseman" on how to end a cartoon series.
