The Movie Database Support

Hii, actually i have used tmdb api to get nearly all the movies for my college project, i have used it and it helped me a lot, i also update it on daily basis. Now i feel that others may also get help using that data, so i was thinking of uploading the dataset on Kaggle. Is it acceptable to upload there? what are the condition or requirements for it. I will give proper credits. I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Hi, I just downloaded a dataset from Kaggle yesterday!

I don't know how to use APIs, I'm not a programmer —would you be willing to download for me a TMDb dataset containing title, release year, budget, and revenue in separate columns, only for all movies that have both budget and revenue amounts?

If so, many thanks - I'm at drdmoviemusings@gmail.com

Meanwhile, I hope someone responds to your request and can help you out.

i do have the data, i can share it but no one is giving reply, not even mods or anyone.

Sometimes it might take some time to get help. Is there anything written in the API help section that might indicate their stance on uploading data elsewhere?

I'm not a lawyer but this https://www.themoviedb.org/documentation/api/terms-of-use seems to only be concerned with commercial use.

And this https://www.themoviedb.org/settings/api suggests sharing info is fine provided you attribute accordingly.

The API Terms of Use, found at the bottom of every web page, describes all use of the api. Section 1-B-3 says "YOU SHALL NOT Cache any TMDB metadata or photos other than for reasonable periods in order to provide your service". Taking the complete movie dataset and copying it as raw data to another website sounds like a violation of that.

However, I (or the moderators) do not legally represent TMDB. I think for the most part everyone waits for a staff member to weigh in on issues like this. That would most likely be @travisbell. I think I saw another post recently that he is on vacation currently.

thanks for the reply , I got your point, I will wait for @travisbell. In Kaggle , data are for education purposes only, not for any commercial use, so I guess it shouldn't violate anything.
