A movie called The Meddler (https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/337154) is available on IMDb (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4501454) or Rotten Tomatoes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_meddler_2016) as a work of 2015. However, because TMDb excludes the premiere release from the representative year, it is marked as a 2016 film. Shouldn't the year of the work also include the year of its premiere, to reduce confusion and to be consistent with other information sites?

Oh! It's already been done! But, then, it's weird. The film I used as an example, The Meddler (https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/337154) is recorded to premiere in Canada in 2015, but the representative year is still marked as 2016. So, is this a bug? What's the problem? Can you please check it out?

Read the rule above. The 2016 displayed year is perfectly correct.

Oh, I must have misunderstood because English is not my native language. Now I understand.
By the way, I understand that there are rules unique to the site, but in the case of information such as the year that is used universally to reduce confusion if possible, I thought it would be better to have the same rules as well-known sites.
