I keep getting an error saying my upload failed when trying to upload posters. Is there an issue with the site, or is it at my end somehow? It was working fine all day, then suddenly threw an error. I was able to upload by moving the file to a different location, but that only worked once and now no matter what I do the upload fails.

Today I received multiple automated warnings that the site was down and then recovered. Maybe there was a server issue.

it's more than that. I've run into the same issue. I would either change the name of the image to something random, or use GIMP to resize the image (from 1500 x 2137 pixels to 1400 x 2000 pixels) and it would work around and load the image... and then it would fail a half hour later when trying to load other images for other movies.
UPDATE: it might be file size of the image. I took said image (for KISS ME, MONSTER (1969) spanish poster), resized it to 1400 x 2000 pixels, only this time saved at 90% quality (which resulted in an image that was 634kb instead of 2.3mb) and it uploaded fine.

It's definitely not just you... I keep getting "Request Blocked" messages, as if I'm being rate-limited in my navigation (I can't help it if I'm quick).

Yup...I've occasionally got those too. It does seem to primarily happen after midnight (as I usually stay up until 3 or 4 AM)

Can you give us an idea of approximately where you are? 3-4 a.m. depends on where you are, as it may be a different time for another user. I am in the PDT zone, U.S., and I received about a dozen automatic outage reports for the site between roughly 6 and 8 on Wed. morning.
Your problems may have been different from what I was seeing, which seemed to be a server problem.

I am operating on Eastern Standard Time (Louisville, KY)
I am experiencing it now. Trying to upload a 1.53mb image for MORITURIS (2011) and it is saying "File(s) failed to upload"
Okay, I'm thinking it is a file size issue. I took the same image and shrank it down and saved at 80% quality, which knocked it down from 1.53mb to 963kb and it loaded up without an issue. What is weird is that I have uploaded 1mb+ images (such as 2 for LADY FRANKENSTEIN) without this error.

No, it's not file size. I've had files fail, come back a few hours later and tried them and it's been fine.

Been running into this error constantly for the last week, I think it is a server issue. I've also had times where the site doesn't load, giving an error message.

The problems are definitely more apparent when the file size is over 1MB.

Still an on-going issue. It almost always manifests at a size over 1MB, even if it is just a tiny bit over. Had three separate uploads fail, on three different films. It is almost like it hits a max limit and jumps to the failure - and these weren't huge.

Have you noticed that no one in authority has responded to this thread? It's starting to look like a huge waste of time.

it's hit and miss. I uploaded a few images that were @ 2.3mb in size, and then a few minutes later I hit the 1mb file size limit and had to shrink the image to just below 1mb to upload.
PT100:
yeah, I don't know what's going on. I have a TON of duplicate images reported for deresolution and I don't think any of them have been purged. Maybe they'll be retired in 4 years?

I wonder if there are any actual staff members present in the forums, or if they even care about our contributions? Maybe they just don't need any help anymore? Or do they just prefer shitty compressed files now? It's not a problem to compress any image to be less than 1Mb, but many of them will not stay ok after that
This problem happens for more than a week already. https://status.themoviedb.org/ says there are no incidents, and there is zero response from the staff. However, it's almost impossible to upload any image larger than 1Mb. Weird.

It's very "hit and miss". I downloaded a few 2.3mb images.. and then it went back to ">1mb = okay". I have to see if I can go through any of the reports I have made regarding deleting inferior images (ie my own which had defects or white borders that I replaced).
In fact, how do you check up on previous reports you have filed? And is there a reason mods won't let a user modify/delete their own images?
