Is there an image voting API? I think it would be useful to help get more votes if developers could implement image voting into their projects. I can see the potential for abuse or per project bias, however, perhaps guidelines or rules could be put in place in order to help use such an api and make sure it stays neutral.
For example, I noticed today in a project that a backdrop image was being returned as "english" when in face it has no language (just a plain backdrop with no text) I had to log into tmdb, search for the movie, find the image, and down vote it (I also removed the language tag, but that's not what I'm really talking about here)
It would be great to be able to have users down vote or up vote images as they see them in our apps or projects. Say an image is being shown that is really low quality or in fact completely wrong, they could down vote it or "report" it themselves without logging in. As it is today, only developers or people really active in the tmdb community have any effect on image popularity. As end users provide more and more feedback, the images being returned will be sorted by a higher quality over time.
I'm realizing as I type this that you need to also be logged in in order to vote on images. Perhaps an anonymous rating would also have to be added in order for this idea to work.
I think something like this would need to be done in order for the popularity and vote counts values to be taken seriously by developers as they request images. As it is today, it seems the majority of images have only a handful of votes (or none) and tbh these could be votes being cast by the same handful of people. It doesn't exactly seem accurate to me.
