The Movie Database-ondersteuning

Hi TMDb Team! We are looking to create a search for People (crew/cast) in our application, using TMDb API data. We are considering ranking the search results based on # of movies/TV, or alternatively based on popularity score. How do you rank results on TMDb website? Do you have a recommendation for which is the best approach? Doing by # of movies/TV would be significantly easier for us than popularity score but we would not want to do if it didn't generate a good search experience.

People Search
Hi TMDb Team! We are looking to create a search for People (crew/cast) in our application, using TMDb API data.

Search using the person's name?
The API Request is this:
https://developers.themoviedb.org/3/search/search-people
Depending on the name you will only get one item in the answer.
Orson Welles example:
https://api.themoviedb.org/3/search/person?api_key=THE_KEY&language=en-US&query=Orson+Welles
Or something more generic eg Mike Nelson
https://api.themoviedb.org/3/search/person?api_key=THE_KEY&language=en-US&query=Mike+Nelson
In this case, the order is the ones you most likely want.
The name is more similar, the person is better known, the profile is more accessed.
There is no Sort By feature.

Hi There,

We'd like if our users had only typed in one portion of the search (e.g., "Matt") to sort all the People results with Matt to have the one the user is most looking for at the top - and we are looking to use TMDb data associated with all the Matt results to do that.

When I type this into TMDb website - there are 10,000 results for Matt, and Matt Damon sits at the top - which is the result we are looking to achieve - so wondering what parameter it is you use to rank the results returned for this search? You mention above for something like "Mike Nelson" the order of the results is most likely we'll want - what parameter is this based on?

Thanks!

I don't know how to answer your questions.
I believe only Travis Bell, the Administrator, can answer.
Let's wait for him to come by.
