...is there a problem and if there is, what is it?

I believe that Travis is the only one currently vetting reviews before allowing them to appear, so it can take weeks sometimes. Maybe he or a mod will have an update/clarification about this.

There was a related discussion about this a while ago. One workaround solution is to post the review as a message in the appropriate movie's/TV show's general forum if you don't want to wait for an actual review to be published. That way it will at least show up right away, and it might also start an interesting discussion there.

I can confirm that only Travis has access to the reviews to vet them before they go live on TMDb. Content moderators do not have that access.

I’ll take a look at the backlog later tonight/tomorrow morning. Thanks.

Weeks? This isn't really an alternative to IMDB then and I find myself getting frustrated when one of my reviews there doesn't take minutes to go live. AI not option for approvals here, in future? Not sure how good that solution would be.

Does anyone know IMDB's process for approving reviews? In the past I've had reviews go live in minutes but sometimes it takes days and I don't know if it's just a delay in approval or if it won't get up and I'll have no reason why that is the case.

What are some alternatives to IMDB for having reviews go up quickly? Think I heard that with Rotten Tomatoes or some such site requires proof of ticket purchase, which is not something that I want to do.

During peak times, IMDb can take several days and up to a week, approximately. Here is the article about it.

If it isn't posted after a week, you can resubmit it. I don't think TMDb wants re-submissions because Travis is already swamped. But I guess you can ask about it.

I am not aware of any review sites that are quicker or easier than IMDb. They have some paid staff as well as volunteers, so they're relatively fast. But I'm guessing that no one is very fast during the pandemic.

Thanks for another useful link. Is there a link for IMDB's policy on film review length? I get the impression that there is one, so I try and stick to that but recently I've seen one review by someone else which is 150% of what I assumed the word limit to be, which makes the policy arbitrary, it seems to me.

I'm pretty sure that IMDB film reviews of recent weeks have had publication delays vary from mere minutes to days. Again, that seems arbitrary. Sometimes the feature which allows you to check on your review's status will state that an edit or whatever was not allowed for unspecified reasons, which doesn't help reviewers.

Thanks for that. I was just testing how your site works but it would be too much work to individually transfer my reviews to your site, unless that feature is in the works? When The Movie Show was about to stop being a thing and its website about to close down, I managed to save some of my reviews there and move them to IMDB.

What is this site's policy on review word length? If IMDB has a word limit, an alternative without that would be welcome as I could always use an extra 100-200 words.

What is this site's visitor traffic like? I pretty much write reviews for my own benefit but obviously having a wider audience doesn't hurt.
