I've posted a couple reviews. It said they were pending approval. That was more than a week ago. How long does the approval process usually take?

I believe it depends on how busy the mods are. I think it can sometimes take a couple of weeks when they're really busy. Maybe the holiday season is also slowing things down.

Mods cannot approve reviews, only Travis has access to the pending reviews.

(donning engineer hat) Sounds like a single point of failure. Thanks, both, I'll keep adding them.

Sorry, I didn't realize that Travis was the single point of failure.

My bad for using angle brackets instead of something else (I'm a newbie to this forum). It should look a little nicer now. That comment was the engineer in me talking: It's always a good idea to have a backup or two for any particular job.

I agree. I'm not sure why other mods aren't involved in those decisions.
BTW, I know it's not strictly kosher, but I don't tend to do reviews, since they take so long to appear. Instead I just post a sort of brief review as a message in the particular forum. Usually it's the first message in the forum, since the landscape here is still a bit barren. It often gets the discussion going.

Sounds good. Calling them "Review Thread" to establish a standard?

I suppose I could start doing that, but I'm afraid others might not, as they may never see your suggestion. I don't know how Travis and the mods feel about this issue, but I think they might prefer that people post normal reviews and wait for approval. I still rely on IMDb for reviews, because there are so few here. I come here mainly for the forums, not content, reviews, etc.

Ya, I understand the frustration... but ditching the whole review system is not the best solution.

Oh. I don't feel frustrated, I just don't want to write actual reviews, because i don't have the time to do that and I don't have a lot to say about the stuff I watch. It is a nice feature that other users can respond to my "review" and call me an idiot or whatever.
For now I will not start any new "Review Threads". Just let me know what the TMDB team thinks about it. I will use the site accordingly.

I also took a look at Letterboxd, but it seemed a bit too crazy, for my taste.
My idea was to have a thread on every films page, started by users or the TMDB team, called "Movie Name Review Thread" or something like that, where everybody puts in their little reviews, thoughts, opinions, observations,...
For example: I saw that on the page of Red Notice there was already a thread like this opened by another user, so I didn't start a new thread with only my review in it, I wrote mine in the already existing one. https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/512195-red-notice/discuss/61a2a0f5c5c1ef0045f5fe4d
On the page of Payback there wasn't a thread like this so i opened one. https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/2112-payback/discuss/61ab82ce4f3a4c005ef8aeb1
I hope that clears things up a bit
Have fun :)

@TrueRenaissanceMan, Sorry if I sounded like I wanted to change something. All these methods are good, they all work for me. The good thing is that if you don't want your review to be buried in someone else's comment thread, you can start another thread. Choices are good.

I'm going to keep posting short reviews to the appropriate boards. And I think your suggestion about labeling it a review makes sense, so I'll be doing that from now on. My short reviews tend to be actual reviews rather than just random brief comments about some aspect of a film/TV show. By labeling the post a review, it lets folks know what it is, but they can also reply to it.
As I said, given the still relatively barren landscape here, my "reviews" as thread starters are often the first post in that forum. So labeling them as reviews makes it easier for people to see what it is ahead of time. Someone usually responds, and a longer thread develops. But what I don't like is when people just go OT in that thread instead of starting a new one. That's just lazy and inconsiderate.
