The Movie Database Support

Hi, I am having this error message "Unable to connect to remote server. Would you like to continue scanning?" in Kodi 17.6 and latest Widows 10. This has occur before, maybe 2 weeks ago, and then it started to work again and scan my movies. Than today this started again. Before that Kodi have worked just fine for year about scraping movies. Is this a problem at my side? In that case does someone know what I can do?

Thanks Captorx

Thanks! OK, I have tried now and it still did not work. I have also tried with different years 2017-2016 and with no year at all. Both in NFO-file name and folder name. Nothing helps, sorry. See attached: https://pasteboard.co/KeWKrow.jpg

Is your KODI 19 set to first fetch the data in the movie folder's NFO ?
When using KODI on a farm without internet, I set it to ONLY use NFO data from the movie folder.

Here is how it look like in old Kodi. There are 3 "A Family Man" now because I have tried different. As you can see it look like I can trough in anything in the old Kodi and it finds it every time. https://pasteboard.co/KeWN4j4.jpg

I confess that I got tired of all the work that KODI generates.
The plex is a dissent from KODI. Lots of work too.
I'm tired of looking for some very simple software.
I've already asked for KODI Skin Developers.
Nothing.
So I use MediaElch, clean, simpler interface.
It's made to make Scraper.
There's even something I've never used; Synchronization with KODI.
But it is possible to use as a library, an improvised Media Center.

What's missing is a KODI for Dummies. Like me. :-)

I have noticed something in this matter about only 25% scraping of my movies. When I am in Kodi and in Videos > Movies and clicking "scan to Library" there comes a message saying "No video files found in this path". Can that be the reason why not so many movies are found when scraping? Most of my movies folders contains rar-files so they need to be unrared first before the movie file is visible? That was automatic in 17.6. Just a tought... https://pasteboard.co/KeWVy4T.jpg

I will ask in the Kodi Forum about this!

It appears that .rar file only works correctly on KODI 17.

OMG! Can this be it? I will install this add-on and try!

Dear Ticao,

Now it is working I think. Found 385 movies out of 395. That is OK. Maybe 10 movies have some misspelling in the name or something like that. I can try to find them. I think I must find them manually but that is OK now that it work. I also have 3 more libraries to scrap but I will do that later. I will try this Kodi for a while and if everything is OK I will uninstall 17.6 and install 19.1 in the correct folder in C:. So now I am dancing the indian dance here because I am happy this is solved:-):-):-) Thanks to you who not stop digging in this problem! Otherwise I would have give up already..

I wonder why no one in the Kodi forum asked me about this? It is quite normal that there are rar files in movie folders and I did not know that there is no support for that anymore. They should think about this change from 17.6 to 19.1! Thanks for the links about that! You are my saver!

A Family Man is here now: https://pasteboard.co/KeXtl1b.jpg

It is set to check with TMDB and if that fails it check internal file information. I think they mean the NFO. Maybe that not work? I can also set to check internal file information only. Not checking TMDB.

MediaElch? Never hear that before. That is for creating scraper and work in Kodi? If not using Synchronization with Kodi how then make Kodi to read the scrapers? Can I just put it in the Movie libarary?

I agree totally. They have this Wiki section and I think THEY think it is easy to understand but it is NOT. I have to fight every time when there is a problem because they use bad explanations. I think they are very skilled about software and they think every one is that skilled too.
