Hi, I've been tryin to edit this entry for a while now: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/88166-i-know-this-much-is-true
I would really like to credit Derek Cianfrance as Director and as Writer for this show, because for some reason that's hasn't been done. However, every single time I try to add those, it just doesn't show up when I come back to the page, like either it didn't save or someone deleted it. It's really annoying and I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Could someone please help?

Hi, liz.
The reason those credits won't add is because that director/writer is already added to each of the individual episodes. Therefore, when you try to add Derek Cianfrance at the series level, the system rejects the attempts because it realizes he's already had his credits added otherwise.
As an example of where you'll see his credits see here (click on "Expand" for any episode); his name, preceded by "Directed by:" and "Written by:", appears on the left side of the page, each episode.

Just to clarify: WE have the responsibility to check the episodic credits before incorrectly adding duplicate season credits. The system won't do it for us. And incorrectly adding credits at both levels introduce a bug that remove the credits for the credit list.

Thank you both for your responses, @genplant29 @banana_girl .
So it all looks like it's supposed to? The reason I had trouble with this is because I often use letterboxd, which takes its information directly from tmdb, and that page now looks incomplete https://letterboxd.com/film/i-know-this-much-is-true/crew/ All the other crew members are credited, only Derek Cianfrance isn't even credited as writer or director. That's really bothersome for me, since he is the main creator of the show. It's also just a limited series of 1 season, based on a novel, so it's highly unlikely that there will be any further episodes directed by someone else.

Yes, it now looks like it's supposed to. The issue with Letterboxd is they only pull the regular cast and crew instead of the full list of credits. Writing and Directing credits are almost always credited at an episode level.
