Cancelled vs Ended

Is there a difference between the two statuses "Ended" and "Cancelled"? At the end of the day it means the show isn't returning. Is there an actual difference between the two in terms of the API or is it simply that Ended means it reached it's natural/planned ending as opposed to be cancelled out of the blue?
