We do not follow IMDb, we follow NBC:

As mentioned above, these two specials need to be added to the TV show specials - they are not standalone movies. See TVDB for the correct info.

Our source of truth is the original broadcaster. Consequently, we should follow the way NBC list them, as indicated above by @banana_girl .

😂
You've got to be kidding?
It's literally in the name - A Parks and Recreation Special - just in case it was for some reason open to debate 😆
What's the point of sites like this? It's so people can lookup, search, categorise and organise TV shows / movies. Making anal and user-unfriendly decisions based on something as arbitrary as an old listing on the NBC website (which quite likely wasn't updated when they made the special) isn't useful. IMDb, Wikipedia, and the TVDB all list "A Parks and Recreation Special" as an episode of the Parks and Recreation TV show, which is what any reasonable person would consider it. I can't speak for the producer of the show or whoever wrote the NBC website's page on the show, but I suspect they probably consider it an episode as well.

No, we are not kidding.
The fact that something is a special episode or not is not determined by the presence of the word "special" in the name.
These elements are listed on separate pages on the NBC website and not under the pages of the series. Consequently, we should list them separately.
