Hello I'm looking into movie budgets and I'd like to know if the values reported here are the original ones (of the production year) or if they are adjusted for inflation. I noticed for instance that Metropolis has a budget reported of $92,620,000.00, while the wikipedia page in most expensive films states that its costs were around 20 million (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_expensive_films#cite_note-metropolis-159). Speaking of which, say I want to compare budgets of films. Can someone point me on a direction to a method for adjusting the budget values for inflation? thanks

They are not adjusted for inflation, unless someone incorrectly entered the adjusted amount they found elsewhere, which they are not supposed to do. There was a discussion about this a while ago. A forum search on "inflation" returns this result.

You can view our official documentation for this in the bible: https://www.themoviedb.org/bible/movie/59f3b16d9251414f20000001#59f73b759251416e71000007
Cheers.
