Hi, sorry if this is an obvious question, I've been reading through old topics and the contribution bible around original language and I'm a bit confused. Based on what I've read, and if I've understood things correctly, Letters from Iwo Jima should have an original language of Japanese, but currently it is set to English.
Is English correct, and my understanding incorrect? Or should it be changed to Japanese? Looking at the edit history I see a lot of back and forth around the languages for this movie, so that didn't help clear things up for me either.
Thanks!

Hi, it's a US movie with an original English title. Based on that English is correct as original movie language (OML). Sometimes users confuse OML with the main spoken language, but that is not how it works. I did not see any OML changes, but plenty of spoken language changes (users from countries with dubbed versions sometimes add the dub language incorrectly). Thanks.

Thanks! I'll study the contribution bible some more. :)

Is there an API to grab the main spoken language btw? I think that's the data I'm actually looking for.

I don't think there is. All spoken languages are equal, as far as I know, so a movie can have English and Spanish listed even though there is only one conversation in Spanish in a particular movie.

Kk, thanks. If you're willing to indulge another question, I also came across these two movies:
Blue Iguana (2018) https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/471429-blue-iguana?language=en-US
The Sisters Brothers (2018) https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/440161-the-sisters-brothers?language=en-US
Neither have English as a spoken language, but afaict they should both have English listed. Would I be correct to go ahead and edit that in?
I'm using the API to run some analysis on my library and I stumbled across both of these as part of that. I'd like to contribute back, but want to make sure I'm not editing in bad data due to misunderstanding (like in my original question).

Yes, but since I had to check them now I fixed both anyhow. Thanks.
