Hi
Does anyone know if there's a way to cross reference my watchlist with where the films/ tv shows are available to be watched? Eg. Netflix UK, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Google Play, YouTube etc. Currently I'm just searching each of my subscription services for each film manually, but it's extremely time consuming and it feels like in an age of automation, there'd be ways of determining this stuff with APIs or something.
Obviously Amazon owns IMDb, so it makes sense that on their website if it's available on Amazon Prime, it lets you know, but I figure maybe there's an app, or a web service that achieves the same not exclusively for Amazon.
Any ideas?
Might something like this be implemented here in the future?

Yup, mostly, I think. v4.5, which is on track in another month or so, is bringing OTT data to TMDb. This will be fully supported on the website although our license for the data doesn't allow us to expose it on the API. So depending if you're asking about it as just a website feature or not, then yes. If you're asking about the data being available on the API, then unfortunately, no. Does that help?

Website feature would be perfect. Sounds very useful! Great news.

Did this ever get added to the website? I'm fairly new so maybe I just don't know where it is.
Also, I'm just curious. How do you even get that data? Is it user inputted also? Or do you have partnerships with all of these streaming services? I'm sure with how big TMDb is, partnerships would be possible. Makes sense that legally you can't expose that data via API, but still sad :(.

Hi, gogetakame - and welcome to TMDb!
On the forthcoming new version of TMDb (that moderators have daily been using for the last several weeks), that website feature is included; there's a Now Streaming - View Offers clickable shortcut below each movie's and show's displayed overview page poster. That will take you to a JustWatch page that presents Stream / Rent / Buy options for the title.
The new TMDb v5 website will be ready to unveil to everyone pretty soon.

Thanks for the update! Nice to know :). I have used JustWatch before, but it'll be nice to have everything integrated here.

Indeed. So many new arrivals to the site have, throughout the years, asked how can they watch a movie or show here. Until now, we've always responded that TMDb is solely a database. With the JustWatch feature added on the forthcoming new version of the site, there will be easy means for people to watch whatever they're interested in seeing - which surely is going to please a great many users.

If I understand you correctly, something like that already exists, and I've been using it for quite a while. It's called Reelgood, and it will track your desired list of tv shows and movies available on the major streaming platforms that you select and save, and will then alert you. It will even alert you via email, if you wish, when a new TV episode is available.

JustWatch seems a more international solution - was going to suggest it until I read @genplant29 's post. Will have to actually use the Watchlist function!

I'm not sure why JustWatch is a more international solution. Please explain, as I assume either is available for the world to see. I tried JustWatch, and their website is usually graphically messed up and/or poorly designed. ReelGood works really well.

RG seems to concentrate on US channels/services, but JW has different "sets" for a range of different countries:
North America
South America
Europe
Asia
Africa
Pacific
No point in seeing what's available in the US as it may not be available in your country.

Thanks for the clarification. I live in the U.S., so I'll stick w/the better designed site.

Yes, ReelGood has a better interface. Btw, they are planning an international rollout this year.

As a VPN user, I would love a service that shows where every film or TV show is available and in which country/ region. While it's certainly useful to have one for UK and one for US, there used to be a website (that has since shut down - or was forced to shut down), which listed each film with every region it was available on Netflix. That way even if something isn't on US or UK, if it's in Spain or Mexico or wherever, a VPN user can still watch. Does anyone know of something like that?

If you're happy to split hairs about copyright restrictions, there are many sites that fly the skull and crossbones.

Yeah, of course, I just prefer to be legit if possible. It is a detriment to the industry that it's not possible so often though, as you say...! I read a stat once that people who pirate the most also spend the most money on digital content, and I think that's true. More often than not, if people can do something legitimately they will, but if it's much easier and/ or impossible to do it legitimately, then they'll still do it anyway.
