Hi! As one of the large Swedish film communities is slowing fading away (http://filmtipset.se) I've seen lots of people moving from there to TMdb. I really like how modern TMdb feels, it's like a breath of fresh air. I wanted to feedback two specific things that Filmtipset has, that I think would add a lot to TMdb!

I'd like to see recommendations based on all your previous ratings. As you start to add ratings, you are building a profile of what you like and dislike. You can use that profile to find users that rate things (good and bad), that same way as you do. Once you have that list of similar users, two great features are possible:

1. You can recommend movies that users similar to you have liked. This is what Filmtipset did, and they worked great! As I understand it, TMdb only considers favourites for recommendations, so it has much less data to base them on.

2. You can also calculate a score for movies you have not yet seen, based on that list of similar users. You simply calculate the weighted average of what the users most similar to you have graded that movie with, and that usually is a great predictor for what grade you will set.

These two features really enhance the usability of a movie community a lot, as you go from "general" recommendations, to personalized ones. Once Filmtipset started using that feature, I found myself using it get a pretty accurate idea of what I would think of a movie, before even reading about it. The site stopped being about "just" movie data, and started knowing my taste in movies, something I found super useful.

I understand this is a big feature, and something you might likely not get to. But as a product manager at a software company, I know that sometimes making bold bets really are worth it. This is one of those features that are not just incremental, but would at least double the usability to me.
