I plan on executing my python script with my api_key passed in from the command line. I am able to get my request_token, but how do I authenticate it in my script without doing so through the browser? It is not a GET or POST request. I am a little confused on how to do this part. Can someone please help?

I am trying to it hit https://www.themoviedb.org/authenticate/{REQUEST_TOKEN}/allow from postman, and I all I get back is HTML. I know I can do it through the web browser. But that does not work for me.

Hi @movieBuff123445,
Only steps 1 & 3 can be done in JSON (ie. by your client and the API). Step 2 has to involve the user because they need to authorize their account on TMDb to let your app read & write data on their behalf. The way this works would be to expose a view that supports HTML and that can ask the user for permission.
