The Movie Database 支持

Item: National Theatre Live: Macbeth

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: It's marked as a compilation video, but it is not a compilation. As far as I can tell it hasn't been released on any physical media. It was screened in theaters and that's why video should be unchecked.

The play is marked as video content:

The video field helps us differentiate types of content that aren't truly movies including but not limited to: compilations, best of, sport events, music concerts, stand-up show, fitness video, health video, live movie theater events (art, music) and how-to DVDs.

You can read our content guidelines here. Only plays originally released as a TV movie or TV specials are allowed as films.

I'm trying to link the film to letterboxd. When I try to do it, I get this message "National Theatre Live: Macbeth is marked as a compilation (“video”) and was not imported." Do you know how to solve this problem? Letterboxd allows other stage recordings. For instance, National Theatre Live: Angels in America, which is also marked as video on TMDB. Thanks.

As far as I know, there is now way to solve this problem. Letterboxd decided to only import regular movies. They do not support video content, adult content or TV series (with the exception of a few miniseries they import manually).

Letterboxd allows other stage recordings. For instance, National Theatre Live: Angels in America, which is also marked as video on TMDB.

Letterboxd sometimes choose to keep deleted content on their website. But I can't say whether their staff "allowed" this particular entry to stay or simply didn't see it. I'm not familiar with their policy on recorded plays.

For your information: The TMDb movie entry for "National Theatre Live: Angels in America" was created a few weeks ago as a duplicate and deleted only 2 days ago by another moderator (@lineker). So it might take a bit of time until Letterboxd deletes the entry on their site - if that's their current policy? I'm not sure about it, because a year and a half ago other users discussed the possibility to ask Letterboxd for making an exception in another discussion here:

https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/444459-national-theatre-live-angels-in-america-millenium-approaches/discuss/596ba50b9251413b24001b9c

I'm not sure what came out of that -> this old discussion gives no answer of what Letterboxd decided in this case? Maybe it's worth the time to ask them again? I can't say, I don't use Letterboxd. But I'm afraid a solution to your problem can only be found by the people on Letterboxd. love_letter mailbox_with_mail

Yes, they still delete duplicate event cinema entries and adult dupes (entries added without setting them to adult:true). I have it in my personal "Letterboxd delete list". Usually after 2 months or so I send over a full list to Letterboxd for deletion (unless it's some very urgent spam or sabotage). Therefore the entry will be removed eventually, either by my list or by another user sending a delete request to them before that.

I would prefer if users asked LB to provide them with an internal platform to add amateur content and event cinema. In particular for amateur content I still see a total lack of respect for our rules by users wanting to get their films into LB to be reviewed by their friends (or, in some cases, by the small but dedicated amateur content community). worried

Aha, I didn't know how you handle this in general. Thanks for clarification! kissing_cat

Do you remember anyone writing about or mentioning what happened with the questions they sent to Letterboxd last year? In the old discussion, there was someone who wrote to them regarding those event cinema entries - do you know if there was ever any response to them from Letterboxd?!? thinking

Letterboxd was how I got into TMDb so I still try to help with removing bad entries (or merging dupes). smiley_cat

No, but it's possible it is mentioned somewhere on their feedback forum. At a quick glance I noticed a topic (New System for Handling Films Marked as Adult) where users want a way to get their favorite classic porn movies into LB. So it's probable they are aware of these issues, but it still must be tricky to come up with a good solution. I'm sure they don't want 10.000+ porn entries!

Oh, yes, I know - but I forgot the word "how" above! face_palm_tone3 Then I edited it very fast, but you were faster with the reply, as always. And now it's kind of really confusing! What missing a single word can do ... rofl

Ah, okay, I see. So it's very likely there's still no solution found yet. pensive
