The upcoming list just looks at the release date information. You can inspect the date range that is used by looking at the dates field returned in the response.
One thing worth mentioning is a suggestion to use the region filter, as it will help limit results to a particular country. This is outlined here.
There is no way to customize the date range on the upcoming method directly but the upcoming method is just a discover call behind the scenes so you are free to make your own customized version however you see fit.
