The Movie Database Support

To find new movies up until now I've been using /movie/now_playing, but this doesn't seem to include movies straight to Netflix for example - which method should I use to basically find all new movies so I don't miss any?

Thanks!

Hi @rollololo,

/now_playing is just a discover query behind the scenes. With discover you can specify which release type you want to include. Here's an example:

https://api.themoviedb.org/3/discover/movie?api_key=<<api_key>>&language=en-US&region=US&release_date.gte=2018-04-04&release_date.lte=2018-04-22&with_release_type=2|3|4

The default /now_playing is only querying '2|3'. If you want to include Netflix, you'll want to include digital releases. You can see which release date types are available here on the release dates method. So '2|3|4' is saying "Theatrical (limited)", "Theatrical" or "Digital".

Thanks!

..out of interest if I leave region blank will it return results from all regions?

Yes, it will.

Thanks!
