The Movie Database Support

I'm building a WordPress plugin for a client and I want to know the best way for managing the data pulled from the API. For example, if I were to load a TV show should I then store the resulting data in a local database table for quicker look up? Or for speed and performance is it best to query the API each time?

Same goes for looking up seasons and episodes for a TV show. I could query the API for these and store them locally when I first load the TV show. Or I could just store the TV show id and perform all these queries on page load (go get the TV show name, all the seasons and episodes).

I hope this make sense. Thanks in advance.
