How is popularity of movie/actor computed?

Are there API which helps the user of the API participate in the Popularity charts of Movie and Actors?

Hi there,
No, there is not. Person popularity is calculated by how popular their page is on our website. Unlike movies and TV shows that have a lot more attributes to gauge popularity by (number of ratings, release date, watchlist and favourite additions, etc...) people are just a simple metric for website visits. The score trends over time though to help smooth out big jumps and drops.
