I know this is something that has been debated before but what if it where possible to create universes as a separate entity from collections. Collections are used for film series like Harry Potter for example and that's great but I feel universes would help too. In the Harry Potter case their is the Fantastic Beast and where to find them film series too. Both of these film series play out in the same universe.
One major differing feature from collections would be the ability to include TV Shows in universes. In universes like the Marvel Cinematic Universe they don't just have movies but also TV shows so far. (8 so far)
The Chicago shows is also a great example of a universe, they are very much connected but not successors to each other.
All I want right now is that you (Travis + Mods) consider it. All I have gathered from the other conversations about this is that collections is not allowed be universes and that TMDb don't support universes at this time.
I'm sorry to bring this up again but i think it's worth some thought. And how knows maybe that new contribution bible has a section that covers this?

Universes are one of the big features Travis has been talking about for a while now. I don't know the specifics, but he pretty much said they would be awesome.
I agree it makes sense to eventually support TV series and mixed content universes/collections. The Movie section was there first and it more developed, sometimes it takes a bit longer to have the TV features.
We have the "only sequels/no universe" thing, but it might be a good idea to explain exactly why collections shouldn't be use as universes.

What is the status of the "universes" feature? I can't seem to find any updates or tracking on this topic other than users asking for this for many years now. TIA.

Well, I think it's close to a tie between multiple release support and universes... Not sure who's gonna win that fight just yet.

Marvell is a big one, I always change the individual Collections to the Marvell Universe in Kodi. My kids (when they are a few years older) will get to watch each movie in chronological order, the only problem I have now is that the Marvell Universe uses an entire terabyte as I haven't compressed the video from the BD Disks... d'oh!

That's a nice Idea! In a kind of universe list you are may be able to also set a chronicle order or may are able to set a universe date, what allows you to see the time range in which a Movie play. With such a universe list you may are able to order even the Star-Trek universe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_Star_Trek

You can create Universes in Kodi using this method... https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Movie_universe
I created quite a few Universes in Kodi all in Canonical order for Marvel, Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, Wizarding World, Star Wars and a few more.
