The Movie Database Support

In a movie, at the beginning of the end credits, it says:

"Written by person 1"

Do I contribute this person with the TMDB label "writer" or with the TMDb label "screenplay"?

Best wishes,

janar

Hi, the most straight-forward would be "writer", but "screenplay" would also work. I would choose writer in this case though.

Thanks! In which case would I choose the label screenplay? Only when it says "screenplay by" in the credits?

That would be the safe option yes. I often use "screenplay" for non-English movies where I know what the original language writing job means. For example, in Sweden they often use "manus" which is best translated to "screenplay" (the online translation wants "script", but that is a bad credit in "Crew" at the moment so not to be used. snail

Okay, got it. Thanks! sunglasses

Screenplay is also often used for derived works (based on novel/play whatever. Where the story already exists) For television that would be teleplay.

Side note haha :)

That is a great point Marr. relaxed I never add "writer" when it's based on another source.
