Hi guys,

i see some issues in the german content of Colonia Dignidad.

  1. The correct name is not Colonia Dignidad - it is the name called in Chile. The correct german name is "Colonia Dignidad - Es gibt kein Zurück" ("Es gibt kein Zurück" is not a tagline, is simply a part of the german title)
  2. The year is 2015, not 2016.

Pls have a look at the imdb page.

It is locked so i can not change the name/year :-)

Cheers types140

I corrected the title, the year according to IMDB is right

Thank you.

According IMDB the 1st release date was at 13th Sep 2015 in Canada. The release date of 15th April 2016 was the one in USA. Which one is crucial to get into TMDB?

BTW this is the title in IMDB: Colonia Dignidad - Es gibt kein Zurück (2015)

The Canadian release is a festival/premiere release. The year displayed between brackets is the year of the first theatrical release. Or well, any besides premiere.

Also. I kind of think that Es gibt kein zuruck is the tagline. (imo all the German titles that get splitted with an - I don't get why in some cases it is a tagline, and others not?)

On the Facebook they also name it Colonia Dignidad;
https://www.facebook.com/coloniadignidad/

"COLONIA DIGNIDAD - ein Thriller von Oscar-Gewinner Florian Gallenberger mit Emma Watson, Daniel Brühl und Michael Nyqvist. Ab 18.02.2016 im Kino!"

And the official website is titled coloniadignidad.de not coloniadignidadesgibtkeinzuruck.de, and the navigation shows the film logo as colonia dignidad too.

I usually treat them as a subtitle when they are part of the logo. Though, I don't know if that holds true for all movie. ( Thank god we have our own human tagline detector grin )

Thank you for your explanation of the year. I still don't get it, but that is no problem :-)

Well the question is which source is the most important and most reliable one? You're talking about 3 sources with approximatly 3 different informations ... i know the problem, but it seems there is no unity about the source. Sometimes TMDB uses the "tagline", sometimes not. If you know what i mean. In my opinion to use only one source is neccessary to avoid problems like those for Colonia Dignidad.

Thank you for your explanation of the year. I still don't get it

Our system is just a bit different than IMDb. The date between parentheses on IMDb is determined by first release including festival premieres (i.e. the 2015 TIFF screening), the date here is the first release date excluding festival premieres (i.e. the 2016 theater release). You can't edit the (date), it is based on the release dates.

Sometimes TMDB uses the "tagline", sometimes not.

The taglines should be entered in the tagline field. It will be part of our upcoming contribution bible. The difficulty is figuring out when they are a tagline and when they are not a tagline.

IMO the only conclusion that can be drawn it that both "Colonia Dignidad - Es gibt kein Zurück" and "Colonia Dignidad" are used on the Facebook and the official website. "Colonia Dignidad" could be a diminutive. I also checked the and the distributor's website and press kit.

Well the question is which source is the most important and most reliable one?

The on-screen credits are usually the number one source. Followed by official press material and websites.

all important german movie sites uses the title Colonia Dignidad- Es gibt kein zurück http://www.filmstarts.de/kritiken/231836.html http://www.kino.de/film/colonia-2016/ http://www.cinema.de/film/colonia-dignidad-es-gibt-kein-zurueck,8003381.html so I think it could stay so

Are those websites that we can trust? (i.e. websites that do not use the "English Title - German Tagline" format by default)

definitely more than IMDB, this is the official site http://www.coloniadignidad.de/ and as mentioned before it's more instinct than knowledge to decide if the tagline belongs to the title or not, if there will be always such problems in the future, we should make a final decision how to handle it, but then for all movies so that there is a clear guideline for the users

@banana_girl thank you again for your explanation. Hopefully i got it now joy

There's nothing left to add :-)

Oh, I corrected the title due to another report:
https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/318781-colonia/discuss/58d04a8592514129f500070b

but here it was reported that it should include the "tagline", but the tagline is even a almost literal translation of the English tagline, doesn't that make it a tagline?

Imo I think it would really help if we just made all the German "subtitles" the tagline instead of "Title - XXX"

but that wouldn't be correct because sometimes the title in Germany is used with tagline sometimes not, especially tv movies have often long titles
