They sure don't make them like this anymore. Back when vampires were still cool, bad-@ss killers.

Now it's racist to portray them that way.

Are you insinuating Marco would be Chinese and Billy would be black..? wink

Well more that portraying vampires as evil is racist towards them, but yes, if remade today Kiefer's vamp team would be full of minorities including transgender Otherkins.

This movie is great. No matter how many times I hear 'cry little sister' I love it everytime.

I haven't seen Thirst but the thing about Let The Right One In is that the film generates (or at least attempts to) sympathy for Eli - he befriends Oskar and even saves his life at one point. So while Eli is definitely a killer, we are supposed to like him. On the other hand, The Lost Boys David et al. are portrayed as hip and fashionable, but they are also soulless killers who'll kill you (rather violently) at the drop of a hat just for fun - they enjoyed being evil. You don't really get that vibe from Eli.

The Lost Boys have sexy sweaty sax playing. Tim Cappello rules!!!

That song is still on rotation on my "sexy" playlist....

I would have to say the most brutal vampire film Ive seen has to be 30 Days of Night. No six pack sparkle vampires in that. They are represented as extremely intelligent but yet completely savage creatures of the night. I would say almost werewolf/vampire like mix. Near Dark was pretty brutal as well. That bar scene with Bill Paxton was terrifying.
