I have been looking at the apps section trying to find something where I can login on my phone to my account and rate things. Am I really just overlooking it? If not, this should be on the mainpage somewhere.

We do not have an official mobile app of any kind. Only the website I'm afraid.

I setup a TMDb folder in my Safari's Favorites bar which contains my most visited sections of the site. Tap the folder and my list is revealed. It's very fast to get around.
You could bookmark a page like the top rated movies or one of you own movie lists.

No real movie fan would ever watch TVDb on less then 55 inches.

I've got an android phone. I loaded the website in Chrome and did "Add to Home screen". Now there is an icon on my home screen that acts like an app. You might try this.

@GrandTardigrade I get where you are coming from, but it isn't quite what this site needs. They need to be able to compete with the IMDB app, which honestly, was terrible, so it shouldn't be a big deal haha.

and by the way, if a website is well optimized for mobile and easy on resources, it shouldn't even require an app. Unless maybe for offering offline browsing or a custom layer of security

That is true. I guess it just seems more "official" with an app, plus it will expand the userbase because almost everyone wants to use apps for their phones. Just ideas to help make this site great!

Yeah that's another reason why many apps exist, to make the service/brand more marketable

Personally with this site I prefer having my browser tabs so I can quickly jump between sites/tabs and cut and paste.

Bump 2022..... Still no good apps
Sadly this site isn't well optimized for mobile, especially editing or adding a movie or TV show, furthermore browsers don't cache data for offline viewing — you know, when you're on your phone and don't have a good data connection — I find it strange that there are tons of apps pulling data from themoviedb but they only sync with trakt 🤷♂️
That tells me there is something wrong and developers can't or don't want to sync with tmdb,
Finally, many people now ONLY use mobile devices, it's the way, and Tmdb in 2022 still has no developers doing a decent app that syncs and the mobile site is very cumbersome compared to an app like Moviebase.
Devs pull data but don't sync, don't add reviews, etc. Maybe that's why sites like letterboxd have tons more reviews but are so much younger.

I do not agree. Websites optimized for mobile phones always end up worse than before. Because the far more important view with the PC suffers from it. Everything is getting rounder, pictures are getting bigger, things are getting confusing. A very good example is here imdb. With certain entries you can't even get to the cast without improvising.
The difference between LB and Tmdb is. Tmdb or its users create the data, letterbox uses it. Working with the data and managing it are completely different things. Tmdb also uses its data and gives its users the opportunity to give ratings, write reviews, create lists... Yes, but Letterbox sees that as its main task. I use LB myself.
On tmdb, the data is mainly created, not played with. A page is needed here that can be used well by adequate devices so that work can be carried out efficiently. You can't really work on smartphones anyway, that's what PCs are for. The work you need to invest in an app is immense and in this case not worth it.

So this tells me I was an idiot for transferring my info to tmdb, and tmdb isn't about creating a community of movie & TV enthusiasts, it's just about creating a database.
Did I get that correct?
So back to trakt I should go 🤷♂️

Depends what site you like more. Comparing features and whatever. I don't know anything about trakt though. Tmdb is about both, creating community and database(and I would say its more about database, since commmunity pages are using the api). LB for example can focus completely on community.
