This has already been discussed in another thread. But feel free to try to get rid of it on the blacklist :-P

I think I know who you suspect.

Yes, it was mentioned in some other thread when someone asked why there was no (English) wikipedia article for TMDb. There is one on German wiki though.

Basically: it happened back in 2008 when TMDb just started. Travis added some tmdb links to articles and it was considered spam and added to the blacklist. Years later (I think half a year ago), when TMDb got bigger and has a name (Plex, Kodi and such using it all) for itself, he tried to write an article about it, but it was rejected and such (even though the stuff that happened before was years ago).
Who cares about Wikipedia anyway

Thank you for the explanation @alltimemarr. I really find it odd that Wikipedia is completely silent on TMDb. If there's any established Wikipedia editor reading this, please consider doing something about it.
The original TMDb article is still preserved in Travis's userspace: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Travisbell/The_Movie_Database
Here's the log entry of TMDb links being blacklisted: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist&oldid=255468084#TheMovieDB.org
To have it overturned things would have to start here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist#Proposed_removals

I wonder why some wikis are accepted, as I had already read why the proposed article was refused (something to do with references/sources...

Travis clearly didn't pay the admission tax.

I just added a very cursory introduction on WP: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Movie_Database
!!BUT!! Someone who is knowledgable on removing sites from the WP blacklist, should ASAP get it done before one of the mods on there wipes the page out without questioning, as I've seen plenty of times – sorry, but I'm clueless on the process for removal (why it as ever on the blacklist in the first place, is anyone's guess!).
Also, some additional edits from WP users on here would help establish its credentials. But the blacklist is the fundamental issue that needs resolving, and FAST!

Maybe add that the forums were re-instated, instead of just added. Because they were here before.
And maybe something about images, HQ stills and posters idk. I'm not very good with wikipedia, haha

Thanks for trying to help guys. My request for getting our domain removed was denied when I tried around 6 months ago. Even though I explained I had done nothing in 8 years, they still wouldn't take it off.
I encourage one of you guys to try. They don't like me having anything to do with this because they look at it as a conflict of interest.

Yes, and have you seen the quite awful and rude response you got from WP user "Guy" without any justification whatsoever. You even asked for help, and he shoved it back in your face despite you kindly asking why and how the site could obtain an article page! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist/archives/October_2016#themoviedb.org_.2F_The_Movie_Database_website
This is becoming all too familiar on WP, as I'm in the middle of contesting now, with my edits of tmdb.org page. ::rolleyes::

Thank you @jimthing for not giving up. I have a Wikipedia account but I haven't even logged in for many years. It really puts me off how politicized the whole thing has become.
