The Movie Database Support

Is there some way to do that?

https://www.themoviedb.org/talk/58994f4992514160b3000ba5?page=2#58a3f76992514165b0000227

This guy asked for help identifying a movie and then bumps the thread a million times, and I reply with a suggestion and he calls me a fucking idiot.

mmm - this could be an interesting test case of how this site will manage conflict.

The language used is completely out of order, especially as you were just trying to help. On the other hand, his post is very clearly titled "from the 1980s" and your suggestion is from 2012.

Plus, whilst the language is unacceptable, this isn't really "trolling", i.e. he's just annoyed at your response, he hasn't got out of his way to seek you out and wind you up...

Do we have an option to ignore users here yet? I can't see anything like that when you click on another users profile?

True, but I'm not sure that is a behaviour we want to allow. Be nice or go home, amirite wink ?

Not yet, on top of ignore, I will be adding an opt-in language filter. It's going to always be off by default but for those who don't want to see bad words, they can enable it and not worry about it.

Personally I don't care about bad words, I just want shitty people to be punished. On IMDB I would insult him back until I could sense he was hurt. Or report the post and it gets deleted. But I rarely saw people like that on IMDB, believe it or not. Seeing it in my first 5 posts here is not a good start.

Well, if he keeps replying with such attitude, he'll eventually punish himself, as no one will want to try to help out (or even talk to him) after all the insults. ;)

He's from IMDB, he used to post the same thing on the I need to know board, and keep bumping when it went onto page 2.

Well in my humble opinion.... I won't be responding to any of his posts until he apologizes.

I see that "test case" thread is still continuing "beautifully" and I guess there will be a lot more like it soon enough...

Any other views on how treating this issue might evolve here?

One thing I was thinking the other day, when I first saw this, was whether it might be possible to have a reason drop down to select from when we get our ignore button? I think this might be a good method of automating the removal of racist, homophobic, etc posters.

i.e. If I just don't like someone's behaviour personally I could just ignore for that particular reason, however if a certain number of people ignore a user and mark the reason as being racist (for example) the system could be automated to lock the account down (subject to review) and hide the user's posts to all others...

Ignore is coming, it's next on my list.

don't feed the troll and enable ignore feature in your brain, why everyone need to be babysit? people are not perfect, some people will be always jerks, trying to deny their existence is waste of time

Please make the ignore work both ways. This way a troll can't follow you around and reply to every post. This was an issue on IMDB.
