Congrats to the (new) website design. I have one problem with it: it seems not possible to find out how many people voted / rated a certain movie.
That information is really important since the average of ratings of 10k voters has more weight than the average of 3 voters. I am sure you understand.
If indeed the functionality to see that important information is missing, please consider this post a feature request. It is really important and helps add meaning to your site.

I have some plans about how this will be implemented. This was an area I was working on when the whole IMDB thing happened and I haven't had any time to go back to it yet.

May I suggest that a film only secures a rating once a total number of users have rated it? This will stop random obscure titles appearing at the top of lists ordered by rating which very likely only appear there on the basis that a couple of people have rated them 5.

andrew, while I understand your point, going that route would be very frustrating for someone like me, who heavily gravitates to very old (as in Silent, 1930s, and 1940s) and minimally-known (for example old shorts from the '30s, '40s, and '50s) movies, that often I'm the only (or maybe one of just 2-3) person who's so far rated whatever. If there were to be required let's say 5 or 10 members rating something before an average rating would show, that would potentially result in a disappointing very long wait, regarding lesser-known titles that simply aren't familiar to or of interest to most TMDb members. Plus, if I'm the only person (or one of just 2-3) who's so far rated something, I do still want to see my (and anyone else's) rating judgement reflected right away - rather than perhaps not till a year or more from now. Keep in mind, too, that many members never do rate titles at all, whether they like or dislike them.
Meanwhile, if the ratings counter shows how many people have voted, that'll make clear how truly representative the shown average rating is.

That’s fair. But I still don’t see a way to determine how many ratings a film actually holds?

Travis has mentioned that he does have plans to add a quantity indicator. That'll enable us to gauge whether a shown average rating is based on 3 people having voted or if 53+ have.

I have an open ticket for this here. You can watch or vote on it if you wish.
It's still on deck.
