I moved the title to the alternative title page.

One, there are many times in which a transliterated (or even translated) title has been locked as a work's original title due to importation of the record from another source or an error by an admin when comparing the title to the terrible IMDB (which uses romaji only). I've spent untold numbers of hours trying to find and fix these types of errors. Another moderator did it this time.

Second, and this is what it seems you're talking about, many times titles that are "not English" are in fact the official titles in English. You watch anime so I think you know tons of examples of this. In the case of this series and others in which there has been no English-language release, the transliterated title is generally entered for English. I'm not sure what the huge problem with locking it is (though I usually don't do it); it's the norm here to lock things once they are established as correct, and "Chou Shounen Tantei-dan Neo" is in fact a valid transliteration. Whether it's locked or not, that's the correct entry for the field. Is this series being simulcast with English subs under a different title or something? I just want to fully understand your objection to it being locked. :)

My objection?

It's not English. Romanization of Japanese does not change the language to English. The field asks for "Translated Name (English)" -> this does not require an official translated title necessarily. Locking those in clearly non English titles does just mean more bother for anyone willing to provide a translation or a proper title once it maybe get licensed. (I don't have a problem with them being in the field, I just don't want them to be locked)

As for the "original" titles, you have to thank Travis for this. He added the field a year or two ago to every record, but not blank or matched up with the languages... in English. I highly doubt anyone ever went back to correct those. Previously we were also not really allowed to add the titles in their "original" alphabet but readable for everyone.

May I note that TMDB also neglects on any consistency for Japanese Romanization? Taking this example, the ō is usually never entered but transformed to "ou" or just straight up ignored :/...
