A way to stop a few duplicates

It needs to be done programmatically though.
Block these old IMDB IDs from being added, as they just redirect to new IMDB IDs. Thus they allow people to add duplicates where otherwise, the IMDB Dupe warning would make people realise it is already on the site.

No. Different list. These are the old dead IMDB IDs. These shouldn't be attached to any films on here. They should be using the new IMDB IDs in the other post you mention.
The problem is, people tend to add these old IDs when creating a duplicate film. I have just fixed about 30 instances of this.
So there needs to be a mechanism to check a dead list of IMDB IDs and not allow them to be used.
This is why I put this post in Website Support, as it is a feature issue, not a content one.

It literally is just a black list. These absolutely shouldn't be accepted. Hope you are able to come up with a desirable solution!

Yup, no doubt. Before I bring them in, I just want an easy way to maintain them. Whether it be backed by the DB or something else.
