There is so much time wasted removing duplicate versions of films from TMDb, and then (for us) merging the duplicate versions into their originals. I'm sure you've considered this, would be great if TMDb added support for named versions of films, in addition to alternate titles. Versions would have their own title, length, release dates (and potentially other fields?) but would still be tied to the original so as not to pollute the database. Apologies if this is a dupe of an existing request.

Hey Matthew,
Yup, it's ticket #470. It should get done this year but there has been a lot of work that had to get done before it was a possibility (the new release date format as well as still to come, splitting translations up into per locale variants).
It's unlikely I'll get to this until after June/July.

All good. I realise what a big job it is, happy to hear it's in the works at some point.

Hi nordicstyle,
There is no news yet. The new website is taking a bit longer than I had planned and is pushing everything out a bit. The two features I mentioned above as pre-requisites are both complete though so there isn't much left I have to do at the DB level.
There's a lot of work I have on deck though so I am not willing to commit to any kind of timeline at this time.

Any other update on this? I've been waiting for this for a while because once TMDB supports it then so can Plex, Radarr, Couch potato, Ombi, Emby, Kodi, etc.

No update yet, I know I said that it "should get done this year" last year but this time I mean it, 2017 is the one. It's planned for this year.

Cool - and since this service is "free" we always hope but never demand ;)

Ya, it's hard for me sometimes, make no mistake about it. I have lots of great ideas but since there's only one person working on TMDb (me), all it takes is one thing (like the IMDb forum suff) to come in and completely sideline a whole month of my time. That's 1/12th of a year right there! Sure, I made the choice to do it but that was a significant investment and everything else I had lined up was pushed by a minimum of 30 days.
There's going to be stuff I had planned for 2017 but can't get to now but proper version support shouldn't be one of them. I really want to get to this one this year.

What about open sourcing the website so others can help you out? Or, if that's not something you want to do, allow for a private collaboration?
On a side note, I'm a SW engineer myself and I have to say that I've been truly impressed by TMDB - the design, navigation, responsiveness, breadth of content, and quality of assets is impeccable. So, my hat's off to you for a truly remarkable product, and a sincere "thanks" for all the effort you put into it!

Hi @spncrgr
Thanks for the kind words I've poured my heart and soul into this thing so I always like to know my work is appreciated.
With regards to your question about helping, I love the offer but it's not really something I want to explore right now.
