I have admittedly only looked at a small handful of examples, but I'm noticing that for the TV Credits called via the TV methods (such as /3/tv/{id}/credits
) do not include the credit_id
in the response for members of the crew, despite the fact that the specific credit_id
appears to exist.
For example, if I get the Series Credits for Big Bang Theory:
https://api.themoviedb.org/3/tv/1418/credits?api_key=#####
None of the crew has a credit_id
in the response
But if I pick an individual from the crew and get that person's TV Credits via a Person method
https://api.themoviedb.org/3/person/1222115/tv_credits?api_key=#####
The response does include a credit_id
in the response for the Big Bang Theory.
For another example, if I pick a more notable person, such as George Lucas.
Repeating that same process on him via the /person/1/tv_credits
method and by getting the credits for one of the TV Series he was involved in (such as Clone Wars), the credit_id
is present in the person
response but not in the TV Series response.
Is there a reason why the credit_id
is not provided for the crew in the responses to the TV Series, TV Season, and TV Episode methods when it appears to exist?
(NOTE: I have edited the original post as I have found that one of my original conclusions was inaccurate but the question/issue was still similar)

Hi psubsee2002,
This looks like an oversight to me. I've created a new ticket for it and will get it completed this week.
Cheers.

Great, thanks. At least I know that it should be there.

The fix for this was just pushed live, as soon as the cached items start purging you'll see them (~12 hours from now).
And example that is working though:
Cheers.

Thank you Travis.
I just noticed something very similar when looking at the people methods again. For Movie cast members, the
cast_d
is missing from themovie_credit
response, but is there for themovie/credit
methods. For example, if I look up Michael J Fox's movie credits:
/3/person/521/movie_credits?api_key=#####
None of the movies in which he was a cast member have a
cast_id
.However, if I look up the credits for one of his movies,
/3/movie/105/credits?api_key=#####
(Back to the Future), he has acast_id
of 14. Is this by design, or an oversight?Відповідь від Travis Bell

This one is by design, since there's no movie credit lookup. Only the TV credits support this currently.
The only reason it exists on the movie side is to be able to reference different credits with the same person on the same movie. Specifically in change logs. These ids are only ever used on the movies side and never on the person side.
One day the movie credits will be migrated to match the same design as TV but it's a huge job and not something that is likely to happen in the next little while. Whenever this happens, there will be a
credit_id
field on movies and people, just like there is for TV shows and people.Cheers.

I had a feeling that was not an oversight, but wanted to double check. Thanks.
