This is a tough one. How much new material does it take to make something a new movie instead of a cut? Still, it was obviously marketed as a cut of Superman II. I'll think about it for a while. See if someone else has anything to add...

To make it more difficult Richard Donner has done a "cut" of Superman as well. I would personally draw the line at if it was shown in the cinema at the time of initial theatrical release. Difficult looking at Superman alone appears there were at least 5 versions one or 2 over 3 hrs!

Yes, typically any "director's cut" will get deleted. But when I read about this one, the back-story and the amount of unseen footage, it made me hesitate.

Yes I Quite understand. I read about it too and on viewing the film it does have a very different "feel" much more so than a usual Directors cut. I not Surprised your going to think for a bit! Thanks for your hard work it's much appreciated.

Entries can't be restored but have to be entered again. Also, this demonstrates the trouble of having one exception to the rule. Likely one of the newer moderators just followed the original rule and deleted it. The internal discussion happened before they became moderators. It's almost an impossible situation. It must have been added and deleted many times over the years.
