I was trying to add director Alexandra-Therese Keining (562589) for a new entry (194545) and as usual I copied the full name. However, I did not get any suggestions. Then I tried some different things. It was the first choice when adding "Alexandra-" and the same for "Alexandra-Theres". But when copying "Alexandra-Therese" - with the e at the end - I again got no suggestions. Strange.

I got exactly the same issue with Paul McCarthy-Boyington. So it's a minor problem related to having a double name of some kind with a certain number of characters perhaps?

A different search issue just came up. Searching for Dominique Roy gives nothing while Dominiqu Roy gets the correct profile.
Actually, searching for just Dominique gets nothing and Dominiqu gets 210 people and 2 movies. Weird!

One more. John Michael Higgins gets nothing. while John Michal Higgins gets to the profile.

Likewise searching for "Michael Clayton" gets nothing while "Michal Clayton" fetches the movie

I know what was causing the "michael" issue and just pushed the fix for it. "Dominique Roy" should also be working fine now, looks like it is, I just tested it.
The "Alexandra-Therese Keining" and "Paul McCarthy-Boyington" issues are a little more confusing. Not sure about those yet, I'm looking into it right now.

Ok, I figured this out. It's actually a characters limit thing. If you count characters and notice when they all start failing, it's at character 16. This is because I was only storing a maximum of a 15 character ngram (the autocomplete feature).
I'm updating this to 30 and it should fix it. The change won't go live for a day or two though. It should be pushed within the week. Thanks.

Can you give some of these a try now? Some of these issues were fixed this week.

All examples above are working. I also tried a different one (Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick) and it worked as well.

I'm opening this one again since I found another one. I added Jake Oelman and he does neither appear when searching nor as a drop-down option. Probably related to the "oe".

Yup, here's the relevant ticket: http://tmdb.lighthouseapp.com/projects/83076-website/tickets/523-look-into-why-oe-isnt-being-returned-with-searches#ticket-523-2

Now this is a strange one. 10 minutes ago I added Dan Wachspress as a director for One Take. Then I was going to add him as a writer as well, but he didn't appear. And now he still doesn't appear when searching.
My first theory is that it could have something to do with the chspr sequence in the last name, but that's just a guess.

Looks like the background indexer crashed. I'll get it restarted and within a few minutes it should be available.
EDIT: Looks good: https://www.themoviedb.org/search?query=Dan+Wachspress
