The Movie Database Support

This is a re-creation of several threads that vanished due to last weeks data loss.

Images

General

  1. Images should not be re-sized to get to the correct resolution. If they are too big they should be cropped,if they are too small they either shouldn't be used or should be used to make composites.
  2. Do not include extra text on the images.
  3. Do not include borders in the images, or take a poster and just add a solid background to it to make it into a fan art. Your image should take up the full image space.
  4. Each image should be unique. Please don't upload the same fan art many times with minor differences such as slightly different zoom, angles, posses, different colour letters or a minor extra image pasted over top, etc.
  5. Make sure you are uploading the image to the correct movie. Some movies do have duplicate or similar names and mistakes do happen so double check before you upload.
  6. Do not report or flag images you dislike for subjective reasons. Do so only if they violate the guidelines or meet the flagging criteria (duplicate, nudity on non-adult film, not English, poor quality).

Backdrops

  1. Only allowed resolutions are 1920x1080 and 1280x720.
  2. Primary aspect ratio should always be 16:9 (aka 1.78:1).
  3. Don't upload a 1280x720 image if a 1920x1080 version of that image already exists. If a 1280x720 version exists and you upload a 1920x1080 version of the same image please ask a mod to delete the lower resolution version via the report the problem button.

Posters

  1. Primary resolution is 1000x1500.
  2. Primary aspect ratio should be 2:3 (aka 1:1.5).
  3. "Naked" versions are preferred as the default image.
  4. User generated posters are acceptable for collections.
  5. Poster art resources can be found here.

Collections

The intention of collections is quite simply to group a set of sequels.

  1. Sequels are generally the only valid criteria for collections. Please use lists to group films based on any other criteria.
  2. Collections are not mirrors of DVD or Blu-ray box sets, use lists to imitate box sets.
  3. Films cannot be in more than one collection at a time, and collections cannot be nested.

Naming convention

  1. Try to use the [Original film title] Collection naming convention, and refrain from using words like duology, trilogy, quadrilogy, etc. There are exceptions, such as The Dark Knight Collection, where each film has a distinct title, so the collection title used the series name as it is called in popular nomenclature.
  2. If the [Film title] Collection naming convention is already used, try to append a unique identifier to [Film title] Collection, such as ([Release date of first film in collection] Series), or (Original Series), etc. Eg. King Kong Collection (1976 Series), Batman Collection (Original Series), etc.
