HI. I suggest you add a new language for the brazilian users. They use portuguese as main language, but the titles of the movies are different from the ones used in Portugal. So if portuguese users, like me, select portuguese (pt) they want portuguese titles and descriptions and not brazilian.
Sorry for any grammar mistakes.
Best regards.

Hi Ricardo,
This is a know limitation. The way our database is split is that we only have separation of the language code (ISO-639-1) and not combinations of language tag an country code. Unfortunately, there is only a single ISO-639-1 code for all dialects of Portugese (PT). Until we re-factor the database to be country-LANGAUGE codes, there isn't much we can do about this.

Hello Travis,
Do you know if there are any plans to this database re-factor in the near future?
This scenario is generating a lot of unecessary updates by both communities (brazilian and portuguese). It'a a "lose-lose" situation
Thanks

Hi Henrico,
It is definitely a problem that needs solving but it is not something I have planned in the next month or so. Probably next in line after a big feature I'm working on goes live in the next few weeks.
Thanks.

Every request, bug and feature is recorded in Travis' account at lighthouse. There is no need to bump a thread in this forum since everything in lighthouse is already set a priority and milestone.

Does anyone know what is the ticket number of this feature request on lighthouse.
I've found ticket #412 "Force locales to be unique by country" and it is marked as "resolved" but I can't see any diference on TMDB interface.

I came here only to request a separate Latin American Spanish language, aswell. Tittles are different, character names (in some cases) too so it's difficult to me (and all Latin American pals) edit movies (point to have in mind that I just register here ;D). It would be great if this feature come soon.
Cheers, hugs and all,

First request in Feb 2013 .... after 2014... and now in 2015, nothing to solve the problem and add PT-BR language.
I think I'll have to find another method, program or manually to catalog my movies because this is getting intolerable.
I have lost hope.
:(

Hi Ander33x,
As the sole person doing everything here on TMDb (design, engineering, support and marketing) some of these bigger tasks take a while to get to. As you may have noticed though, the new website is properly handling the locale based languages and doing the database work to support this at the media level is my next big task after I am done with the new website. This is currently slotted in for ~January-ish.

Hey guys,
Next up for me is moving the TV edit pages to the new system and then, finally, I will believe re-factoring the translations in the DB will be up. So I am close to getting to it now.
