I tried to add the genres I had tried before sending my original note. There's no error message, and the genres appear initially, but when I browse away and look again after a few minutes, the genres have gone away.
All Night Halloween Party - Animation, Horror, Comedy
John Stanley Meets Jack the Ripper Disc 1 - Horror, Comedy
John Stanley Meets Jack the Ripper Disc 2 - Horror, Comedy
All Night Halloween Party - Animation, Horror, Comedy John Stanley Meets Jack the Ripper Disc 1 - Horror, Comedy John Stanley Meets Jack the Ripper Disc 2 - Horror, Comedy
The first time I go to the page, I see no genre.
Then I select English Language : The the genre "Comedy", then I select French language, and I see "Comédie" appears !
I've just had a look at the first title in my list - the genres were still not there, but still showing in the changelog where I'd attempted to add them before. Added them again now though and it's worked. Thanks Travis!
Very strange. I looked after seeing "Reply by Travis Bell on Dec, 06 2012 at 02:15PM" and found no genres. Since language seems to have an affect, I changed my preferred language to German and looked again. I was offered to translate the entries, but instead I selected to view the entries in English. The genres were there! The genres are still there after I changed my preferred language back to English.
Yeah, looks like I spoke too soon as well. I've gone back to the film that I added the genres to the other day (THE GERMAN FRIEND) and they've disappeared again. Still showing on the changelog (multiple times).
This shows this is still an issue - no one has deleted the genres but they keep disappearing. They appeared to stick for a few days but I have had to add them again.
Hi Travis. Just to let you know, I tried deleting the SciFi tag from a few movies and it didn't stick. The edit is recorded in he change logs, but the gene is still there. See Ghost and LOTR for example. Let me know if you need other debugging details or another test.
Hi Travis, thanks for the hard work, i still seem to be having trouble getting the genre the save for 'Eros + Massacre' (drama), perhaps something with the special character in the title?
Also, is this affecting plot keywords as well? I added several to ME WITHOUT YOU about a month ago, and some have stuck (psychological drama, relationship study and university setting) whereas others haven't (coming of age, friendship and romance). They all show up on the changelog, and no-one is showing as having deleted any since.
No, it doesn't affect keywords. We recently cleaned up tens of thousands of keywords though and it's possible some were deleted by accident. If they are re-added now, they should stick. There is no known issue with keywords.

Groovy. Keep an eye on it for the next little while just to make sure I caught everything.

I was still finding weirdness with genres yesterday.
eg http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/144503-love-speed-loss/changes - this shows that I have tried to add the genre to this several times, but it hasn't stayed, though it is still showing for me right now.

That's a separate (but similar) known issue. It's being worked on but probably won't be fixed for another few weeks.

Thanks for the info Travis. Is there a separate ticket or thread for the other issue that's affecting this? Happy Christmas & New Year, btw!
